Julio Antonio (1889-1919)
Julio Antonio Rodríguez Hernández was born in Mora de Ebro and educated artistically in Tarragona. Marià Pedrol, a drawer and Bernat Verderol, a sculptor were his teachers as well as the image maker Fèlix Ferrer later on in Barcelona. Sometime later he completed his fisrt sculpture in Murcia "Ill flowers". His artistic production travels through Almadén, Madrid, and again Tarragona.
Thanks to a scholarship granted by the Diputació of Tarragona, he moved to Italy in 1909. Upon his return he won the contest for the completion of the monument to the Heroes of 1811 (at present located on the Rambla Nova).

We also have to mention the monument dedicated to Eduardo Saavedra y Moragas which can be admired at the Saavedra Gardens, also in this town. Finally, he concluded several works in Madrid, the most significant of which, the Lemonier Mausuleum was finished in 1918, one year before his death. Julio Antonio was buried in the La Almudena cementery.
