José Nogué Massó (1880-1973)
He was born in Sant Coloma de Queralt. He received hids fisrt prize of drawing at the Sant Josep school of Barcelona. his family having moved to Madrid, he studied in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios and the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, where he was awarded the "Couloring Prize" in 1900. In 1907 he won a post as pensionary in Rome, where he remained until 1922.
Upon his return, he became a professor at the Escuela de Arte y Oficios de Jaén. Later on, in 1932 he moved to Madrid and finally to Barcelona in 1942 where he retired in 1950.


Since 1919 and sponsored by the Royal Artistic Guild he exhibited his works at the Galeries Laïetanes in Barcelona.
Up to 1965, he performed more than fourty individual exhibitions in Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Jaén, Tarragona, etc.
His paintings are mostly devoted to the landscape, interiors with figures and religious themes, achieving en intimate style that recreates light and nature.
